A season for sharing kindness
OVER 800 servings of steaming hot bubur lambuk (porridge) were snapped up in under an hour by passers-by and motorists.
The distribution of the bubur came courtesy of Impiana Hotel Ipoh, whose kitchen team prepared the traditional delicacy with various herbs and spices.
Hotel general manager Gerard Sta Maria said the porridge was given to motorists and passers-by, to be eaten when they break their fast.
“It was not just about the breaking of fast, because we also give it to anyone who wishes to try or enjoy the delicacy.
“It is the Impiana’s way of spreading goodwill during this holy month,” he told MetroPerak.
Several of the hotel’s dedicated team held huge placards with words “Bubur Lambuk” and “Free”, stood along the main road in front of the hotel, leading motorists and passers-by to the hotel entrance.
“This is the way we have been doing it throughout the years and the response has always been overwhelming,” he added.
Sta Maria noted that the porridge was prepared by the hotel’s culinary team led by its executive chef Izhar Kushairie.
The culinary team starts the preparations and cooking at 11am in several large pots before it was ready by 3pm.
The team then began packing the porridge in containers before the distribution began at 5pm.
“The smiles of appreciation from people who received the porridge truly make us happy,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sta Maria said that a live demonstration of “kacau dodol” is being held daily between 5pm and 7pm at The Coffee House’s entrance.
“Patrons can get a taste of the freshly made desserts, which will be served during the breaking of fast buffet,” he said.
The hotel offers two different breaking of fast buffet dinner spreads until June 14.
The BBQ & Ikan Bakar Buffet is available at The Coffee House from 6.30pm to 10pm, priced at RM78nett per person for adults and RM55nett per child.
For those who prefer a traditional Malay village spread, the Buffet Ala Kampung is available at the Impiana Ballroom at the same time, priced at RM65nett per person for adults and RM45nett per child.
