Allegedly drunk man killed after taking nap on road

KOTA KINABALU: An allegedly drunk man who decided to take a nap on the road was killed after a vehicle ran over him in Inanam town here.

The deceased, identified as Candok Talib, 51, was killed on the spot in the incident near the Inanam night market here at around 10pm Sunday.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra said on Monday that the 53-year-old woman driver of the car did not realise that the man was lying down on the road when she ran over him.

ACP Chandra said that the man was apparently planning to cross the road when he decided to sleep on the road.

"We believe that he was under the influence of alcohol," he said, adding that police investigations were still ongoing.
