Cops fire two shots at driver who rammed car into Kg Koh police station
SITIAWAN: Police were forced to fire two shots at a man, believed to be mentally unstable, who rammed his car into the Kampung Koh police station here early Saturday (April 21).
Manjung district police chief ACP Muhammad Hanif Othman said in the 1.45am incident, the 28-year-old suspect rammed into the glass doors of the station in reversing, causing serious damage.
"One of the two police corporals on duty at the complaints counter in the station was forced to fire two shots at the car in self-defence when he tried to ram it again.
"They managed to arrest the suspect and there were no casualties," he said.
He said investigations found that the suspect is believed to be mentally unstable and was under the influence of drugs at the time.
He added that he had three past criminal records for encroachment, causing mischief and drugs.
Muhammad Hanif said the suspect was injured on his head and face and was sent to the Seri Manjung Hospital for treatment.
"The suspect's car mirrors were broken and there were gunshot marks on the back of the vehicle," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 and 186 of the Penal Code for causing mischief as well as damage and obstructing civil servants from performing their duties. – Bernama
