Couple injured after car catches fire in Tapah

TAPAH: A couple suffered burns after their car crashed and ignited at KM336 northbound of the North South Expressway, near here.

Tapah OCPD Supt Som Sak Din Keliaw said the driver of the Proton Exora, Ooi Chee Kwang, 35, and his Indonesian wife, known only as Yulia from Johor Baru, suffered burns during the 7am incident on Saturday.

"The driver's daughters Lynette, four, and Lorraine, two, were unharmed.

"Ooi and his wife were first sent to the Tapah Hospital before being warded at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for further treatment," he said.

Supt Som Sak said the incident was believed to have occurred when the vehicle lost control, skidded and crashed along the road.
