Documentary on artificial intelligence to be shown

THE future is in artificial intelligence (AI), any device that studies its environment and acts to maximise its chances of success at a goal.

Google Educator Group leader George Town Nanis Karuna will screen a 90-minute documentary titled ‘AlphaGo’ at Penang Science Centre in Wisma Yeap Chor Ee at 2pm today.

It shows how a computer programme beats the world’s number one Go player. Go is a Japanese strategy board game.

“I think Malaysia has come to a point where a lot of businesses can make use of AI technology,” he said at an interview recently.

He said that in developing AlphaGo, they input over 100,000 Go games played by humans. The computer learned and later beat the world’s champion player.

“If any schools or institutions are interested in watching the documentary, I can help organise a screening.”

He said Google Educator Groups also hold talks and training sessions for educators at schools and colleges, such as teaching them about Frog VLE, Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Slide.

“I am also discussing with Penang Science Centre about holding free sessions to teach Google Drive,” he said.
