RESTAURANTS serving Pan-Asian cuisine (food from various parts of Asia) tend to be a dime a dozen, but when done right, it showcases the appeal, as evident at The Establishment.
Located in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, the restaurant and bar is a must-visit for its food and drinks.
The Establishment co-owner LK Moon said the restaurant’s menu was inspired by the Australian culture of sharing good, fresh food together, with some all-time favourites and a fully-equipped bar.
For starters, the Smoked Duck Salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, apple chutney and fresh greens is great for sharing.
The combination of the slightly salty duck breast and fresh greens gives a medley of textures and flavours.
Another option is the Establishment Salad with mixed greens, beetroot, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and walnuts.
The extensive list for mains provides something for everyone.
The best part of The Establishment Burger is the home-made beef patty. Paired with lettuce, onions, cheese, gherkin, tomatoes and egg, the burger was juicy and flavourful.
If you are craving for meat but also want seafood, then the Surf & Turf is the way to go, with its generous-sized cut of beef and grilled tiger prawns with asparagus, brussel sprouts and tomato confit.
The beef was well-seasoned and the prawns were grilled just right.
Another top-selling dish at The Establishment is the Honey Mustard Chicken served with herbed potatoes and fresh greens.
The chicken chops were incredibly juicy and the sear on the meat was perfect. It complemented the sweetness of the honey glaze.
For an on-the-go meal, the Grilled Chicken Wrap and Spicy Soft Shell Crab Wrap fit the bill.
If you are looking for a light meal, there is a page just for snacks.
A personal favourite was the Deep Fried Baby Shrimp and Deep Fried Mini Crab.
The crunchy snacks went well with ice-cold beer.
The restaurant also boasts an extensive selection of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
The Establishment flagship cocktail, a fruity blend of gin, Grand Marnier, sweet vermouth, lemon, dragon fruit and strawberries is smooth, but packs quite a punch.
For the budget-conscious, there is the three-course set lunch (not available on Sundays), which includes an appetiser (soup or salad), a main and dessert of the day.
In celebration of its grand opening, The Establishment is offering a 30% discount on its filet mignon, and a buy-one-free-one bargain for its Honey Mustard Chicken.
Both offers are valid until Sept 28.
