Forum for exotic flavours from South-East Asia

SOMETHING new is out to lure diners to the chic Forum KL Restaurant in Desa Sri Hartamas.

The spacious restaurant with delightful ceiling-to-floor glass panels will from now be souped up with the aroma of South-East Asian spices with the latest additions on its menu.

The owner, Kapila Selvadurai, is presenting 14 new dishes, including some of his family recipes, to highlight exotic cuisine.

“The new menu takes guests on a culinary tour with dishes inspired by India, Singapore and Malaysia.

“Fresh ingredients are used to ensure the taste is authentic, and guests will be treated to a diversified menu that allows more options to choose from, be it grilled meat dish or the classic Malaysian nasi lemak,” he said.

Singapore Katong Style Laksa Lemak is ranked top of the list as it is concocted by the owner’s mother, Vimala Selvadurai.

The dish is for those who seek strong flavours, the thick gravy is brimming with spices and herbs while bean sprouts, fish ball and prawn make it satisfying.

The secret to this dish lies in the curry powder that is milled and made in the owner’s Sri Lankan family home. It is also used for the Indian dishes served here.

The curry powder is a recipe inherited over three generations, and can be bought at the restaurant if a diner wants to use it at home.

Local wonders have made their way into western favourites, one of them is Rendang Burger featuring a 180g Angus patty with homemade rendang sauce oozing.

Fried Chicken Wings Done Three Ways showcases the appeal of tropical tastes, using Singaporean style sauces made with spices, honey, ginger and Sriracha hot sauce.

Also not to be missed is their version of nasi lemak, jazzed up with chicken curry fine-tuned by the owner’s mother again.

“The highlight of this new menu is not only its innovative use of great flavours, but also our commitment in responding to the growing trends and demands of our diners,” Kapila added.

Besides the Asian additions, the restaurant’s Big Breakfast, Eggs Royale, Atlantic Salmon and Chicken Roulade remain popular among diners.
