Holidaymakers flock to Johor

JOHOR BARU: Holidaymakers are flocking to tourist attractions, especially theme parks here, to take advantage of the long year-end school holidays and spend time with the family.

Legoland Malaysia, Hello Kitty Town and Angry Birds Activity Park were among the hot picks in Johor as people from far and near thronged these places.

Among the crowd at Legoland was V. Gregory Adaikalasamy, 34, who came from Penang with his wife and their two young daughters to check out the attractions at the park.

“It is our first time here, and we enjoyed our day thoroughly from morning.

“We travelled here for a family function and decided to make full use of the break,” he said.

Also spotted were Selangor-based safety consultant Shima Abd Wahab, 43, her husband and their three daughters.

“We woke up at 5am and drove down to spend a day at the park and do some sightseeing around the city at night.

“Besides Legoland, we are planning to make a stop in Muar on the way home to taste Johor’s famous asam pedas dish,” she added.

Marketing senior executive Lily Tham, 39, from Kuala Lumpur, said her kids loved visiting the theme parks and it has been a yearly affair for the family to visit Johor and Melaka.

“This year, we decided to take a five-day trip to cover Legoland, Hello Kitty Town and Angry Birds Park as well as to do some Christmas shopping at the Johor Premium Outlets,” she added.
