International pageant finalists on water scooters cause big splash in Langkawi

FIFTY beautiful women made a stir in the sea off Langkawi, Kedah, when they rode water scooters together.

They made it into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) because each of them is from a different country, creating a record for the most number of nationalities riding on water scooters at the same time and place.

These 50 finalists of the Miss Tourism International pageant took part in the stunt held at Paradise 101, a man-made island in Langkawi recently.

Hosted by Naam Sdn Bhd, the event saw several beauties astride 30 bright yellow water scooters, some riding pillion.

Naam group chairman Datuk Dr Ravi Ponniah received the achievement certificate from MBR manager Lee Pooi Leng upon the ride.

Lee said it was the first time such a stunt was ever attempted and it was held in an orderly manner.

Dr Ravi said it was a proud moment for Naam to score a Malaysian record.

“I appreciate the dedication and hard work from the staff for this achievement,” he said in his speech.

Also present was Langkawi Development Authority chief executive officer Datuk Azizan Noordin.
