MPSJ: Cleaning contractors monitored through chat groups

SUBANG Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) keeps tabs on cleaning contractors via WhatsApp groups so that complaints can be monitored 24 hours a day.

Among those in the group are MPSJ deputy president Mohd Zulkarnain Che Ali, councillors, contractors and the solid waste department director.

“After 10 notices for serious violations of regulations, such as failing to collect rubbish on schedule, contractors will be sacked.

“This year, we have terminated four contractors to-date,” Mohd Zulkarnain said at the council’s Hari Raya open house.

MPSJ Corporate and Strategic Management Department deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said every year in preparation for the wet season in October, the council’s engineering department would monitor the drainage in its jurisdiction to ensure water flows with ease.

“We will also monitor hotspots for flooding such as the stretch on LDP in front of a mall in Puchong,” he said, adding that after a flood mitigation project, that was no more flooding in that area.

On the Hari Raya open house, Azfarizal said it was the first time the council hosted it indoors and each department was tasked with decorating their own food stall.

“This is to ensure that all staff are included in the celebration. Previously when we held the event outdoors, those working at the counters could not join in.

“It is on a smaller scale this year but customers who came to pay their bills or attend to other matters at the MPSJ building were able to join in the celebration,” he added.

At the event, 15 exemplary Ramadan bazaar hawkers were also rewarded for their efforts.

Also present were former MPSJ president Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan and former deputy president Abdullah Marjunid.
