Malacca council 'nabs' car with 440 unpaid summonses
MALACCA: The Melaka Historical City Council (MBMB) has impounded a Toyota Corolla car which had 440 unsettled summonses since 2012 with fines totalling a staggering RM22,480.
The car was "nabbed" in Jalan Melaka Raya 13 in Taman Melaka Raya here on Thursday.
The council's Inspectorate and Infrastructure Development officer Md Derus Tompang in a statement here said 54 of the summonses had been brought to court while the rest were being processed.
He said investigations found that the car was owned by a 67-year-old man and was used by his family members.
He added that the summonses had to be settled before the car could be released back to the owner. - Bernama
