Man allegedly kills wife over suspected affair
IPOH: A 38-year-old woman died after an alleged assault by her husband, who suspected her of having an affair.
Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Taib said the incident took place at a house in Matang, Taiping on Jan 12 (Friday) at about 9.15am.
He said the victim was rushed to Taiping Hospital in an ambulance after she was found unconscious.
"Her husband, a labourer, came to the Kuala Sepetang police station and told policemen that his wife had fallen unconscious after he had hit her.
"The victim was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here for suspected bleeding in the brain, but she passed away on Saturday (Jan 13) at about 9.30pm there," he said.
ACP Mohamad said a post-mortem report revealed that she had sustained head injuries due to blunt trauma.
He said the man was arrested at the police station.
The case will be investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
However, ACP Mohamad said the case was now classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
