Man murdered after trying to woo ex-wife back

IPOH: A man's attempt to woo back his ex-wife ended in tragedy when he was murdered.

He was shot three times in his head, chest and abdomen before his body was abandoned next to a superbike, near a plantation in Gerik, Perak, on April 7 at about 4.30pm.

Following the discovery of his body, Perak CID chief Senior Asst Comm Yahya Abd Rahman said that a special task force by Bukit Aman and Perak's Crime Investigation Departments had been set up to probe the case.

On April 10 and 11, police arrested the 38-year-old ex-wife, her 42-year-old lover and another man in his mid 30s from different places in Gerik to assist their investigation.

"One of the suspects admitted to shooting the victim during questioning and brought the police to two places where items significant to the murder were retrieved.

"A Colt Covenent pistol with 35 pieces of live ammunition was found while raiding the male suspect's mother's house in Kampung Jong, Gerik.

"Two mobile phones belonging to the victim that were discarded in a bush area under a bridge at KM22 along the Gerik-Kupang road were also found," he told a press conference here Monday (April 16).

SAC Yahya said the murder was driven by jealousy as the victim had been trying to make good with his ex-wife, a contractor whom he divorced last December. They were married over a year ago.

"The 42-year-old suspect dating the female suspect is a married man himself with three children.

"Their relationship had been going on for about two years," he said, adding that the victim also had a previous marriage.

It is learned that the victim had bumped into the couple on the day of incident and had given chase near the plantation area.

It is believed that his desperate attempts to reconcile with the woman were not taken well and ended up with him being shot.

"All suspects are being remanded.

"We consider this case solved and we are preparing the investigation papers for the couple to be charged with murder," added SAC Yahya.
