Man rams down snatch thieves who ran away with his handphone

KAJANG: A 37-year-old man managed to knock down a snatch thief who tried to steal his mobile phone at about 3.45am on Tuesday.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussoff said the man was smoking in his car with the window down when two men approached him on a motorcycle.

"One of them grabbed his mobile phone which was placed in a phone holder on his windshield and sped off," he said on Wednesday.

ACP Ahmad Dzaffir said the man gave chase and rammed into the motorcycle near a fast food restaurant at Bandar Tun Hussein Onn.

"The victim stopped his car and approached the suspects after they fell and a scuffle ensued. Passers-by who witnessed the incident came to his aid and managed to subdue one of the suspects but the other managed to flee the scene," he said.

ACP Ahmad Dzaffir said the suspect did not have any prior criminal record but tested positive for drugs.

"We are now on the hunt for the suspect at large and have classified the case as voluntarily causing hurt in a robbery," he said.

Those with information on the case should contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
