Melaka CM sad with the use of 'kafir' to describe rep's visit
MELAKA: Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron is saddened with the word "kafir" (infidel) being used in a WhatsApp message on Sunday about Klebang assemblyman Datuk Lim Ban Hong’s visit to a multi-purpose hall near a mosque in Bukit Rambai, here.
In a statement from Mecca on Monday, Idris said Lim's visit on June 17 was only to hand over Hari Raya goodies at the multi-purpose hall and not inside the Al-Salihin mosque as claimed by the message sender.
Lim is the state MCA chairman and a state exco member.
"It is uncivilised and uncouth to label a person as an infidel when Lim was doing a noble deed on June 17 by providing goodies to the underprivileged," said Idris.
He added that this is tantamount to slandering a person as the event was not held inside a mosque but an adjourning multi-purpose hall.
Idris also said that the multi-purpose hall was meant for the use of all races.
