Motorbike lanes closed for repairs

IN response to the letter “Time to use AES on motorcyclists” (The Star, Feb 13), the writer obviously is not a motorcyclist. Has he tried riding a motorcycle on the Federal Highway? Does he know that the motorcycle lanes have been closed for months? In fact, certain stretches have been closed for more than a year. The ongoing so-called repair and improvement work leading to lane closures is forcing motorcyclists to use the highway.

As a biker who frequently uses the highway and with great concern for safety, I would certainly want to use the motorcycle lane. Perhaps the writer should find out the facts before jumping to conclusions.

He should also be directing his views to the authorities instead to help speed up the reopening of motorcycle lanes.
