Motorists caught in Bukit Indah flash floods
KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists are being caught in flash floods in Bukit Indah, Johor.
Trapped mall visitor Mecco Chiam shared a photograph of cars being partly submerged at Aeon Mall Bukit Indah two hours ago.
Meanwhile, knee-high floodwaters affected 120 homes in Kampung Tuah Jaya in Perling here after almost two hours of heavy downpour.
Pulai Parliament Community Service Centre secretary Datuk Abd Rashid Kasman said that 80% of the 160 homes in the village were affected by the flood.
"Efforts to evacuate the families to temporarily relief at a surau are ongoing. A few other surrounding residential areas were also affected," he said here on Tuesday.
Photos of vehicles partially submerged in floodwater near Taman Bukit Indah and Nusa Bestari here have also been circulating on social media.
Johor Health, Environment, Education and Information Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said that a relief centre in Kampung Seberang Gajah in Tangkak was also opened to accommodate a family.
"All relevant agencies are monitoring the situation," he added.
