New centre of excellence for Sibu STEM students
SIBU: A centre of excellence is set to be established in the Nangka state constituency in 2019 to help students master science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Sarawak Education and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said they are looking for a suitable site for the centre.
“This resource centre will provide students with reference materials and teachers will be assigned to guide them,” he said at a School Improvement Workshop attended by 12 primary and secondary school heads.
Dr Annuar said the function, structure and direction of the centre would be decided by the 12 heads in the two-day workshop.
Earlier in his speech, Dr Annuar, who is also Nangka assemblyman, reminded parent-teacher associations to use their funds by organising events which were beneficial to students in their respective schools. – Bernama
