Religion on Najib's mind the night before facing MACC

KUALA LUMPUR: On the night before Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to go to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) office to give his statement, a van ferrying students from the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah religious school was seen entering his residence at Jalan Langgak Duta here.

About a dozen students are believed to have came to visit the former prime minister.

The school hit the headlines last year after an arson attack killed 21 students and two teachers.

Najib has previously told the media that he frequently host the school's students at his home for prayers and other functions.

He also posted a Quranic verse encouraging patience on his social media pages.

“And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and thus lose courage and your strength would depart, and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient,” read verse 46 of the Surah Al-Anfal from the Quran, posted by Najib.

The former prime minister is expected to give his statement on SRC International, which the MACC is investigating.

SRC International is a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), which has been accused of transferring millions of ringgit into the private accounts of Najib.
