Selangor suspends Zamihan's lecture at mosques, surau
PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has suspended lectures by Muslim preacher Zamihan Mat Zin from all mosques and suraus in the state.
In a letter Thursday, Jais director Haris Kasim directed all mosques and surau administrators that the Persatuan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah (Aswaja) president, was now being investigated under Section 4 of the Sedition Act.
Haris said that as such, all mosques and surau at grassroots level were directed to "temporarily suspend" Zamihan's lectures with immediate effect.
Zamihan was arrested on Wednesday and remanded for two days on Thursday.
He is under investigation for allegedly saying in a now-viral video that it was wrong of Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar to prohibit a Muslim-only laundrette from operating in the state.
In the same video, he described Chinese people as being "unhygienic".
