Suspect in Klang assault case to be arrested soon, say cops

KUALA SELANGOR: Police say it's just a matter of time before they arrest the suspect involved in the brutal beating of a man in Klang.

Selangor Police Chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the suspect has already been identified by police.

"Based on our investigations he and the victim are neighbours. The suspect has since fled the area," he told reporters after attending the Selangor Police Chief Volley Ball Championship here on Wednesday.

He added that the suspect of hadn't left the country and would be arrested soon.

A video showing the brutal beating of a middle-aged man recently went viral on social media.

The one-minute and 44-second video showed a woman pleading for mercy and a frightened child witnessing the attack.

The victim is then forced to kneel in front of his attacker before he is beaten with a rattan stick repeatedly. It is believed that the video was taken at the victim's house in Klang.

Bukit Aman corporate communications chief Senior Asst Comm Datin Asmawati Ahmad was quoted as saying that the assault is believed to have stemmed from an earlier argument involving the victim.
