Teen parenting course in two languages
KUCHING: A six-week course on parenting teenagers will be starting later this month to help parents strengthen their relationship with their teenagers and build healthy families.
The course is designed for parents with children aged from 11 to 18 years. It offers practical tools applicable to everyone who has responsibility for a child in this age group including couples, single parents, step-parents or grandparents, as well as teachers, youth leaders and those caring for teenagers.
The course consists of five weekly sessions covering topics such as meeting teenagers’ needs, setting boundaries, developing emotional health and helping teenagers make good choices.
It ends with a graduation party in the sixth week. The course will be conducted in English on Saturdays starting Feb 24 and in Chinese on Sundays starting Feb 25.
Both English and Chinese sessions will be held at Harbour View Hotel here.
It is organised by Alpha Malaysia (Sarawak), an NGO that runs marriage and parenting courses.
The course will be partly sponsored by the state Women and Family Department and is open to the public.
The fee is RM50 per person. Registration forms are available at Wong Ear Nose and Throat Specialist Clinic in Timberland Medical Centre.
