Triplets in need of more aid
A DECADE ago, a trust fund was set up to help a set of infant triplets in Penang whose parents already had two older children to care for.
Trust fund secretary Lee Thuan Chye said that the 10--year-old triplets are now flourishing, thanks to generous donors.
“However, funds are now running low and can last the family only eight more months.
“The family receives RM1,000 from the fund monthly to provide for the triplet’s educational and personal needs.
“My goal is to sustain the trust fund until they turn 18 in 2026,” he said after visiting the family at their flat in Macallum Street Ghaut.
Lee said the children’s 67-year-old father Woo Kwee Fatt earns only RM1,500 a month as a stall helper while their mother Ely, 40, earns RM1,500 as a hotel housekeeping staff member.
“They have two older sons aged 12 and 14. The triplets are growing and need things, especially for school.
“This RM1,000 a month from the fund makes a huge difference.”
Lee said that he had decided to donate RM500 to the fund.
“This sum is my commission from the sales of TG Ocean Health Food Industries Sdn Bhd products,” he said, adding that from now on, he would be donating his commission to the fund.
Gerakan Wanita deputy chief Datuk Ng Siew Lai also donated RM500 to the fund.
The triplets, boys Yu Fook and Yu Keong and their sister Yen Fong, are Year Four pupils at SK Tan Sri P. Ramlee in Jalan Timah.
Those who wish to donate can call Lee at 012-4782894. Cheques can be made out to the Woo Kwee Fatt Trust Fund (account number: 7019553282, CIMB Bank).
