Two schools appeal for donations to replace items destroyed in floods

TWO Chinese secondary schools in Penang are seeking donations after the recent floods destroyed equipment and items worth RM500,000 or more at each school.

At Jit Sin High School in Bukit Mertajam, some RM520,000 worth of equipment was ruined by the floods which had swamped many parts of Penang.

Among them were eight computers worth RM16,000. Also destroyed were 17 types of musical instruments, including cello, pipa, yangqin and jinhu.

The school’s senior assistant (co-curriculum) Sim An Thea said that many of the school’s office equipment also needed to be replaced.

“We hope the public can donate items such as office tables and chairs,” he said.
