Unifi Mobile: Prepaid without expiry

Telekom Malaysia introduces a digital prepaid mobile service, Unifi Mobile which promises credit that never expires.

On its Unifi site, TM said the service could be topped up through the Unifi Mobile app and the credit would never expire, allowing users to only top up as needed.

The app, available on both Android and iOS platforms, allows users to sign up for the service and request a SIM card, available through self collection or delivery.

Users could sign up for up to five SIM cards at a time and also port their number from other telcos.

TM is waiving the Starter Pack signup cost during the promotional period, which runs until March 31, or as long as stocks last.

The Starter Pack includes 50MB of data, 10 minutes call time and 10 SMS to all networks.

Those signing up during the period would also be rewarded with 20GB LTE data when their line is successfully activated.

The rates for top ups are RM50 for 8GB, RM30 for 4GB, RM15 for 2GB and RM13 for 1GB. For cellular, it is RM30 for 200 minutes of calls and 200 SMS or RM10 for 60 minutes of calls and 60 SMS.

Calls are charged based on a 60-seconds block and users can use their data for personal hotspots.

Although the credit does not expire, TM will terminate lines that have not shown usage, reloaded or purchased any add-ons within 90 days from the last purchase date.

All remaining quota will be forfeited upon termination.

TM is the latest player to enter the digital mobile service market, following Digi-linked Tapp launched early January and Maxis's Ookyo last September.
