VLC player now supports Chromecast and 8K resolution

The play-it-all video player VLC just got a major upgrade for users who like to stream to their TV.

Following the release of VLC Media Player 3.0, users can now stream from the program to their television set using their Chromecast dongle.

Not only that, but the open-source program now also plays 8K, high dynamic range (HDR) and 360-degree content, even with 3D sound.

Another neat new feature is the ability to search your computer's documents from inside the program, rather than having to open a file through an explorer window.

The latest update is available to Windows and MacOS users, as well as on Android and iOS. — dpa
