Vivian-Mei Kuan power past English pair to deliver gold No.7
GOLD COAST: Scratch pair Chow Mei Kuan-Vivian Hoo delivered Malaysia's last and seventh gold at the Commonwealth Games by winning the women's doubles title without much fight.
Mei Kuan-Vivian defeated Lauren Smith-Sarah Walker of England 21-12, 21-12 in a lopsided final at Cararra Sports and Leisure Centre.
It was Malaysia's second badminton gold at the Games after Lee Chong Wei's victory in men's singles earlier.
It was also Vivian's second gold medal. She won the doubles with Woon Khe Wei at the 2014 Glasgow Games.
With the last gold-medal event today, the Malaysia contingent ended their campaign in the 28th Commonwealth Games with a medal haul of 7-5-12 to finish as 12th best team in the Games.
They surpassed the medal haul of 6-7-6 achieved in Glasgow but failed to achieve their second target - a top 10 finish.
