‘Work with us for a better Malaysia’
THE public is advised to cooperate with the authorities to maintain peace and bring the country forward.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said it was the Government’s hope to ensure that the people could live in peace and harmony.
He said they wanted a conducive environment for people to live their lives.
“The Government is committed to realising its aspirations for Malaysia to be a high-income nation,” he said in his speech during a Chinese New Year programme organised by the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) with the theme “United Against Crime, Violence And Drugs” at the d’Tempat Country Club in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Seremban.
His text was read by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan.
Sultanah Pahang Sultanah Kalsom was the guest of honour.
Also present were Tengku Fahd Mua’adzam Shah Sultan Ahmad Shah, MCPF senior vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, vice-chairman Datuk Seri Ayob Yaakob and special project director and event organising chairman Datuk Seri Johny Ch’ng Ewe Gee.
Dr Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said the programme was a good platform to deliver the messages of the Government to the people.
He also lauded the organising committee and MCPF for helping to shape a safe and healthy community through various crime prevention campaigns.
“The younger generation is the next echelon of leaders and they should be exposed to the measures in safeguarding the country’s safety and security,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ch’ng said the pioneer programme was to help foster closer ties between people, non-governmental organisations and the authorities.
He also thanked Dr Ahmad Zahid for setting aside an annual budget for MCPF to carry out its activities.
“We will be getting a new building soon in the heart of the city.
“This is a good recognition for MCPF’s efforts,” he said.
Ch’ng expressed his gratitude to Sultanah Kalsom for gracing the event, saying it showed that she was very supportive and close to the people.
Among the main sponsors of the programme was Seremban-based developer Matrix Concepts Holdings Berhad group managing director Datuk Lee Tian Hock.
Later, Sultanah Kalsom joined the guests in tossing yee sang. She also launched the exclusive SAS International Royal Club, accompanied by 38 Gods of Prosperity and 38 “lions”.
